Distance between diffuser disc 5 and adjusting ring 4
a-      If distance between 4 & 5 increase – secondary air increase –high O2 Content at flue gas & low primary air
b-      If distance between 4&5 decrease – secondary air decrease – low O2 content at flue gas And high primary air
Suspended flame – rate  of stream of oil particles enters to the combustion zone = rate of combustion product leave from combustion zone
Primary flame = lighter hydrocarbon are burned near the burner with the aid of primary air stream, flame stabiliser(diffuser disc)

Secondary flame – by the primary flame , heavy hydrocarbon are  evaporated & burned with aid  of secondary air  stream
